Every year I plant sunflowers in the garden, with varying degrees of success. I have yet to achieve the same results of the sunflower fields of Provence, but the plants in my garden never fail to fascinate me with their startling forms and individual personalities. The flower in "Through Every Mystery" didn't grow straight up in the traditional way, but seemed to swim through the atmosphere in graceful curves. It was this that drew my attention to it and led to the painting which has now become "Through Every Mystery". Simon Bull
