| The paper is laid down on top of the plate, followed by a felt blanket which acts as cushioning. |
Everything is then rolled through the rollers of the press. |
Once the plate has fully passed through the rollers, the blankets are lifted away and the paper is peeled back from the plate.

| The print is the result of the transfer of ink held within the etched lines of the plate onto the paper. |
The ink from the plate has now been transferred from the etched areas, onto the paper. |
|
In order to make another print, the plate has to be inked up again in exactly the same way. Despite many attempts to automate this process over the years, no alternative has been found to match the unique appeal of a hand-wiped etching plate. | Next Page Page 1 2 3 4
